Starting Today, Windows Phone Cannot Use Whatsapp


Windows Phone cellphone users will no longer be able to use the WhatsApp application starting today, Tuesday, December 31, 2019. WhatsApp will no longer be used for phones running on the Windows Phone operating system.

Reporting from Slash Gear, Microsoft's digital store for Windows Phone will also no longer display the WhatsApp application. This announcement was actually delivered by WhatsApp in mid-2019.

Windows Phone users also still need to pay attention to the Android and iOS versions, if the user switches to the Android operating system. The reason WhatsApp will also stop supporting older Android and iOS devices starting February 1, 2020.


WhatsApp will stop services on Android 2.3.7 Gingerbread and iOS 8. WhatsApp will no longer be able to run on the operating system starting February 1, 2020.

Therefore, users should move their WhatsApp account to phones with version 4.03 and above or iOS 9 devices and above.

The company, headquartered in Menlo Park, California, USA, suggested to users to update their mobile device's operating system.

WhatsApp said the decision not to support their services on a number of older mobile devices was actually a difficult decision for the company.

"This is a difficult decision for us to make, but it is appropriate to give people a better way to stay in touch with friends, family and loved ones using WhatsApp," said WhatsApp spokesman.

Previously, the application has stopped its support for older generation Androids such as Android version 2.3.3, Windows Phone 8.0 and earlier, iPhone 3GS or iOS 6 version, Nokia Symbian S60, Blackberry OS and Blackberry 10. (jnp / lav)
